A few years ago, I traveled through Canada with my husband for almost a year and a half. The further into the outback we went, the more often we had to go weeks without our favorite hiking food, because there were no healthy organic nuts to buy anywhere. The ones you could get were then neither organic quality and mostly these were also imported from directly from China. So we were looking for a possibility to buy our beloved nuts in larger quantities.

In a small village called Nelson near the Kootenays in British Columbia we finally found our dream store. There we could finally buy all kinds of nuts, superfoods and dried fruits – and finally in large quantities at really fair prices. On top of that, their whole assortment was organic – now I was really happy, because as a trained cook it is very important to me to cook only with the best ingredients – because I love good food. We hoped to find such a store in Switzerland after our return.

Back in Switzerland, we were disappointed – there is a lot of choice, but often only in very small packs at horrendous prices. And precisely because nuts are also great for cooking and baking, people are reluctant to do this when the packs are so small and expensive. After some consideration, the idea was born to rather set up a store ourselves and to show the “big ones” that it can be done differently.

Nuts are known not only wonderful “brain food”, but especially for children instead of sweet stuff, as a quick snack on the work table or during trips and hikes, the small energy wonders are always with you.
