Cedar nuts and pine nuts can hardly be distinguished in terms of taste. While the rather elongated pine nuts come from the pine tree in Central Europe, the somewhat rounder cedar nuts are more likely to be found in Russia. Both are in no way inferior in terms of taste and aroma.
With their firm consistency and fine aroma, they are ideal for giving salads or Mediterranean dishes that certain something. Since the small taste bombs are only grown to a small extent in plantations, most of them come from wild collections, which explains the relatively high price. But those who appreciate the taste are happy to accept this.
